Oboxmedia is seeking an ambitious, independently-minded Business Development professional to help drive the next phase of our growth as we continue to deliver comprehensive online solutions to advertisers across Canada.

Role:

We are looking for a passionate, career-minded individual who is an avid devotee of digital media and advertising. Ideally a post-secondary graduate, this individual will be able to combine a solid understanding of the Internet (including: publishing, blogging, advertising, and content distribution) with creative selling skills as well as the ability to seek out strategic, long term partnership opportunities and drive increased value for our publishers. This candidate is a crucial team member who will leverage a deep knowledge of our partners, and the online publisher market, in order to enhance and improve our offerings, refine our value proposition, and improve our understanding of the markets in which we compete.

We expect a proven ability to get results in a fast-paced business environment for a role that combines elements of direct sales and business development. This is a challenging role that offers the successful candidate exposure to local and international markets, opportunities to enhance their business development skills, and the chance for career advancement in a rapidly expanding company.

Responsibilities:

Reports to the Vice-President of Business Development with broad exposure to and interaction with product development, engineering, product marketing, mobile, legal and finance, and the executive leadership team

Crafting and driving key strategic deals and managing existing partnerships with leading and emerging players across digital advertising ecosystem

Managing a growing portfolio of existing partnerships including deal renewals and contract extension, as well as day-to-day relationship management

Developing proposals and conceptualizing new digital media offerings, including pricing, forecasting, and metrics for success

Communicating and interacting with clients

Developing product offerings in social media, content marketing, and mobile

Prospecting and contacting independent website publishers as well as comScore top publishers and strategic partnerships

Collaborating with Business Development and Sales teams to identify inventory strategies in key verticals while communicating with prospective clients and maintaining cordial business relationships with key clients

Expanding business reach and proactively creating new sales opportunities

Closing new business deals by coordinating requirements and negotiating new contracts

Identifying structures and negotiating deals in technology, distribution and other strategic partnerships to enable scalable revenue growth while opening up new markets

Serve as a liaison to the operating teams to ensure successful execution of signed partnerships

Tracking and evaluating performance post-transaction vs. initial performance targets

Key competencies:

Fluently bilingual in French and English both written and spoken

Experience with online advertising, including mobile and social

Experience with content and other marketing programs

Excellent writing and computer skills (including PowerPoint, Photoshop or

other graphic tools) for effective communication and presentations

Solid prospecting skills

Ability to lead all aspects of a top-tier publisher relationship including executive meetings, business development discussions, contract negotiations, account planning, and long term opportunity identification

Strong knowledge and familiarity with publisher business models: ad-serving technologies, network partnerships, display, mobile, video, and social

Strong set of existing relationships with comScore top publishers preferably at the decision-making level

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong business judgment, and professional distinction in thought leadership and innovation

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding all goals, developing business strategy and leading successful partnerships with top-tier publishers

Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

Be accountable and compensated for your own activities and maintain efficient business relationships with existing customers to enhance profitability of business operations

Ideally, experience in technology or media sectors

Proven ability to generate new business and achieve sales targets

Proven ability to take initiative then run with your own activities

Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize workloads

A positive can-do attitude with strong problem solving skills and an ambition to succeed

Other specifications

We offer a vibrant work and social environment with high energy and high expectations for mutual success. There may be occasional travel to other cities including New York, Montreal and Vancouver. Compensation commensurate with experience and capabilities, including a variable portion.
